The MFA is committed to remaining aware and informed of current issues regarding falconry, raptors, and their prey species, and acting as conservation advocates for our sport and the wildlife involved.

SAGE GROUSE CONSERVATION

Sage grouse are the largest grouse species in North America, and native to Montana. They are currently listed as "Near Threatened," which means their population is on the decline. Sage grouse are also legal quarry for both gun hunters and falconers, so we in the MFA are taking action where we can to ensure the continuance of this incredible species. The document below provides details on a resolution agreed upon by our membership in 2012, and reaffirmed this year, 2022, to protect sage grouse during their critical courting period and on their breeding grounds.
